The Thriller Like Anwar Result

The Thriller' is for Prithviraj fans!
The B Unnikrishnan film is yet another hollow film, like 'Anwar'...

Indu SekharIt seems more and more directors are falling for the popcornkind of films. The filmslook great to watch on, but would have nothing underneath it.Just like an Amal Neerad film. B Unnikrishnan's 'Thriller' is yet another one in this genre. As we are aware, the uniform lends an additional energy to the character onscreen, even if it is a negative one. The khaki was one of the reasons behind Suresh Gopi's rise to superstardom. (Of course, one should not forget Ranji Panicker's fire-spitting dialoguesand the sleek picturisation by Shaji Kailas.) Prithviraj had shown that he could revel in a cop role with his Solomon in 'Vargam'.So, Prithviraj playing a cop under the direction of B Unnikrishnan for a subject supposedly based on a sensational murder case that rocked Kerala in recent times made for great antivipation about the movie. But, the writer-director chose to follow the path traversed by the director of 'Anwar' andmade another superhero film, which could only be enjoyed by a Prithvi fan. The inevitable slow motion scenes make one cringe in self pity. OMG, please give us a break!Niranjan (Prithviraj) isinvestigating the murder of Simon Palathinkal, the heir to a premier business empire in Kerala. Of course, there are incidents and characters in 'Thriller' that remind one of thePaul Muthoot case. Murky real estate deals, Simon's underworld connections, his liking for drinks and women and even the curiously shaped knifeare examples.Prithviraj has done a fine job with his role. He looks great, fights off goons convincinglyand mouths punch dialogues with power. The supporting cast, including Sampath, Siddique and Vijayaraghavan, have done their bit for the movie. Catherine has nothing much to do other than looking pretty and dance in a scene.Warning: If you are not a fan of Prithviraj, don't go anywhere near a 'Thriller' cinema!
