Someones out to malign Prithviraj: Tini Tom
People with talent don't force modesty upon them that's actor Tini Tom's theory about his Indian Rupee co-star Prithviraj, who is the butt of jokes in a series of SMSes and Youtube videos. The chain of SMSes centred on Prithvi has him mouthing silly jokes and funny ideas while the videos posted on Youtube take a dig at excerpts from his interviews.
"I suspect Prithviraj's detractors have recruited people just to churn out such SMSes and videos," Tiny lashes out in support of Prithviraj. "No Malayali youngster has achieved the fame and name he has in such a short span of time. Prithvi started his Mollywood innings when he was just 19 and he has been consistently giving a good performance. Acting is in his blood; and films are his passion," says Tini.
No matter what people say or think about him, he is scaling new heights. Tini opines, "After playing a pivotal part in Mani Ratnam's Raavanan, he is now all set to make his Bollywood entry opposite Rani Mukherjee. And there's no stopping him."
But success hasn't got on to Prithvi's head, Tini claims. "He is so polite to his co-stars! Never once have I seen him throwing his weight around."
Tini also notes what it is about Prithvi that doesn't go down well with many. "Well, he is not afraid to speak his mind. Plus, he has answered every question thrown to him by every journalist. That has landed him in serious trouble many a time. He is now changing for the better."
Tini will team up with Prithviraj again in director Diphan's upcoming flick, Heroes.

'Urumi' Tamil in November
Santosh Sivan is on a mission. That not to focus on anything else till the Tamil version of his critically acclaimed 'Urumi' hits the screens. "Yes, only after that I will start my next venture Ceylon," says the acclaimed cinematographer-filmmaker.
"My focus is on releasing the film in other Indian languages. The Tamil version is ready and I am planning to release it by November. Because I am waiting for all the big movies to see the light of the day," he says, implicitly mentioning Deepavali releases.
'Urumi' is a historical-fantasy film directed and co-produced by Santosh Sivan and written by Shankar Ramakrishnan. It stars Prithviraj, who was also one of the producers of the film, Prabhu Deva, Genelia D' Souza and others in lead roles.
Recently, the film was selected to be screened at the prestigious Busan International Film Festival. This is the second time a Santhosh Sivan movie is being featured at this festival. In the year 2005, his 'Navarasa' was screened at the Busan International Film Festival, it may be recalled.

Indian Rupee Review By Sify.com
No thrilling action sequences, candy floss romance or flexing of muscles here, even though the hero is a dreamy eyed youth with sky high dreams. Writer-director Ranjith narrates a highly realistic story of a small time real estate broker in Indian Rupee.
Jayaprakash or JP as he is known (Prithviraj), is not much educated but has big hopes about his future. He has started off as a sub agent in certain real estate transactions with some bigwigs and is slowly making his presence felt in the big bad world of realty business in Kozhikode. Hameed (Tini Tom) is his alter ego and the two tries to make some fast bucks as they help to sell the property owned by an old man named Achutha Menon (Thilakan).
Though the deal never happens, Achutha Menon becomes a part of their life and things start happening in a fantastic way for JP, soon after. He is in love with Beena (Rima Kallingal), a doctor, though her parents are not too keen about the alliance. JP manages to earn a decent fortune after some smart moves, but he learns some valuable lessons about the importance of money in life, in the process.
Ranjith once again proves why he is regarded as one of the finest filmmakers in the business, with a well written script and nice execution. Though he has adopted a conventional style to convey the plot, he has succeeded in making it look genuine. Even then some of the twists and turns in the story gives the feeling that the tactics are not so wily to the extent it has been presented.
The scenes involving Suresh Krishna and Kalpana are perhaps a bit over the top. The song sequence where some love birds keep swaying to a song with lighted candles in their hands, look out of sync as well.
S Kumar’s visuals are fine and Shahabaz Aman’s music is good in parts, though the background score could have been much better.
Things have not really been going hunky dory for Prithviraj for a while now and he is perhaps making a comeback of sorts, as JP in the film. This one is not about brawns and he has moulded himself for this rather deglamourized role with great earnestness and maturity.
But it is veteran actor Thilakan, who just steals the whole show with his brilliance. With his subtle mannerisms, dialogue delivery and amazing style, it is no surprise if his character haunts you long after the end credits start rolling.
Jagathy Sreekumar, as a wily moneybags named Pappachan, too does a splendid show. The rest of the cast that includes Rima Kallingal, Mallika, Tini Tom, Lalu Alex and Mamukkoya have done their parts very well.
Though it is a bit too melodramatic and even preachy at times, Indian Rupee is easily one of the finest films of the year. It has honesty written all over it and such efforts need to be seen and appreciated by the audience. Two big thumbs up for this one!

Indian Rupee Movie Review.
"Indian Rupee" is a must-see !!
After success of brilliantly-crafted satire 'Pranchiyettan & the Saint', another Ranjith creation, "Indian Rupee" released with above average welcome on releasing centres.
'Indian Rupee' has been produced by Prithviraj , Shaji Nadeshan and Santosh Sivan under the banner of August Cinema.
Ranjith, whose the director plus writer of 'Indian Rupee' who launched Prithviraj in the finely crafted Nandanam some years back and also the director-actor duo joined in the film 'Thirakadha' which gets good appreciations.
"Indian Rupee" is about money as it’s title suggests. The movie discusses about the popular sentiment that money is often the deciding factor in our lives. Prithviraj plays Jayaprakash aka JP, a young man who is not well educated, but who dreams of amassing great fortune as a real estate broker. He makes his dream true to certain extent. Then he realises another aspects of life in the process.
Great performer Thilakan is back with a strong character,Achutha Menon. Rima Kallingal plays the heroine in Indian Rupee, as a doctor working in a government hospital. Tini Tom, , Lalu Alex, Jagathy Sreekumar,Maamukoya , Shammi Thilakan, Mallika are part of the cast.
Prithviraj plays Jayaprakash, a young man who dreams of making it big as a real-estate broker. Surendran (Lalu Alex) is an elderly friend of his. His younger sister Beena (Rima Kallingal) is in love with Jayaprakash. JP is in search for his real break in life. Only his lady love, Dr. Beena understand his struggle. JP runs through the underbelly of Calicut operating from their make shift film distribution office turned real estate shack. To their mundane existence enters Achutha Menon(Thilakan), a man with mystery in his past. He gives them a grand plan which would change their lives forever. JP decides to throw the dice. Fate turns around spinning him into a wheel round of events which alter everything around him including relationships, love, friendship and even integrity. This plot makes the movie 'Indian Rupee' really interesting..
Ranjith knows that expectations are high on 'Indian Rupee'. As per expectations Ranjith did it too !!
'Indian Rupee' is a a charming film that's plainly life-affirming without being overly pretentious or markedly melodramatic.
Ranjith finely-plotted and intelligently-directed movie, which can impress audiences with its notable narrative structure.
It should be specialy mentioned that Jayaprakash alias JP is one of Prithviraj's verybest roles in his career.Prithviraj once again appear restrained as a man with extraordinary act of kindness, to come up with a superior performance.Thilakan gives a stellar performance as Achutha Menon. Tini Tom and Lalu Alex is impressive . Rima Kallingal has given an excellent performance. Jagathy Sreekumar,Mammukoya, Kalpana, Mallika, Babu Nampoothiri, Shammi Thilakan have done justice to their respective roles. Of the supporting cast, the much-hyped cameos by Revathy, Asif Ali and Fahad Fasil look apt. All the others in the cast too have done well under the creative spell of the director Renjith.
Beautiful songs tuned by Shahabaz Aman and written by Mullanezhi and V.R. Santhoshl jell well with the plot and situations. S.Kumar's cinematography takes one's breath away and has made visuals that aptly suit plot. Art by Santhosh Raman and Editing by Vijay Shankar makes the movie more beautiful. Technically the film is superb without having to indulge in gimmicks. Every element finds its way into the film . Ranjith pour irony, love , sentiment and humour in good measure without ever tending to be melodramatic or overtly sentimental. "Indian Rupee" is a leaf of contemporary life.
Bravo Ranjith, you have once again proved that you are one of the best craftsmen of Malayalam cinema.
"Indian Rupee" is a must-see for those who really crave for good cinema.
Verdict: Superb.
