Sakshi has bombed
at the Kerala box-
office. It's bad news for
the young actor as three of his recent films:
Anwar (took a fantastic
opening), Thriller and Arjunan
Sakshi have been failures. The trade feels Prithvi as an
action hero, does not sell.
According to a leading
exhibitor: " Prithviraj, among
the youngsters is looked upon
as the future superstar. But his choice of films have gone
wrong as he is desperately
trying to be a larger than life
super hero a little too early in
his career. He should be doing
more earthy characters that will connect with Kerala
audiences." Now Prithviraj is back to doing
earthy characters which is
more close to real life. His long
delayed film Manikakallu has
started rolling at Nalleppally
near Palakkad. The film is directed by
Sreenivasan's brother-in-law
Katha Parayumbol fame,
Mohan and is said to be a
family entertainer. Prithvi is playing a school
teacher in the movie. A
veteran director remarked:
"Thank God he is not holding a
gun in the film. By playing an
ordinary school master it will take him back to family
audiences". Samvrita Sunil is
the heroine and is essaying
the character of a tough
sports teacher. Mukesh,
Jagadish, Salimkumar, Jagathy, and Innocent are also in the
cast Even though Katha Parayumbol
was a super hit, Mohan did not
get much recognition.
Srinivasan walked away with
all the credit for making the
film a hit. Manikakallu is a golden
opportunity for Mohan to
prove his skill. Mohan him self
has written the screen play. P
Sukumar is the
cinema to grapher, music is by M Jayachandran and film is
produced by Girish Lal. Let us hope Manikakallu works
with the family audiences in
Kerala.
