Five heroines for Prithviraj for MASTERS

Young superstar Prithviraj will have five heroines in his new movie tentatively titled as 'Masters' to be directed by Johny Antony. In this interesting script which will also feature Subrahmaniam fame Sasikumar in the lead, the crew has already fixed Piya ( Of 'Ko' and 'Goa') and Ananya as the two heroines and are in the lookout for the rest. To be produced by V Sharathchandran in the banner of Sincere cinema, the movie is based on a script by Jinu Abraham. While Madhu Neelakantan is in charge of the camera section, Pattanam Rasheed does the makeup. 'The movie which will have its pooja next week, will be on sets by the 10th of August. This time it's 'Crackjack'

PJ Entertainments will be releasing Prithivraj’s “Teja Bhai & Family” this onam across Europe.

PJ Entertainments will be
releasing Prithivraj’s “Teja Bhai
& Family” this onam across
Europe. This will be the first film
for young superstar Prithivraj to
perform in a full length comedy thriller. The film has been confirmed for
a worldwide release on 26th
August 2011. Teja Bhai is directed and scripted
by Crazy Gopalan fame Deepu
Karunakaran. The film is
produced by P.K Muralidharan &
Santha Muralidharan of Anantha
Vision. Their earlier productions have been Classmates, Chocolate
& Robin Hood which have all
enjoyed success at the box
office. Industry sources have indicated
that Teja Bhai’s script is one of
the best in recent times. PJ Entertainments will be
working alongside many
associations to release the film
to a wider audience across
Europe this Onam. Screening schedules are to be
announced early August.

Rani Mukerjee says yes to Anurag

After rubbing director Vishal
Bhardwaj the wrong way, Rani
Mukherjee is making sure she
doesn’ t decline offers from any other talented director. As it is,
she hasn’ t been getting too many offers of late, so to decline
whatever’ s coming her way doesn’ t seem to be too wise. Rani’ s been on a new high after the success of No One Killed
Jessica. She also went ahead and
signed Reema Kagti’ s film opposite Aamir Khan. She was
very keen on working with
Vishal, but refused the offer
after he decided to cast her
opposite Emraan Hashmi.
Apparently, she has been sending him feelers, expressing a
desire to work on the project.
Sources now inform that the
actress has signed Anurag
Kashyap’ s next venture. Rani will be seen opposite Malayalam
filmstar Prithviraj in it. After No One Killed Jessica, Rani
has realised that she needs to
look beyond Yash Raj Films, which
used to be her second home.
“Rani is making sure that she does not do films just to play
the lead. She is looking at roles
that have substance and will
allow her to experiment beyond
just being glamorous on screen,” adds our source. The film will be
directed by Sachin Kundalkar, a
National Award winning Marathi
director. It’ s apparently a quirky love story and is scripted
by Anurag Kashyap.

East Fort in Thiruvananthapuram.
It's one of the oldest theatre in
the city run by S. Chandran, son
of veteran producer and studio
owner the late Merryland P. Subramaniyam. The venue was
recently renovated with all the
latest tech and opened with
Prithviraj’ s Urumi. The actor, wife Supriya and mum Mallika
returned the gesture and spent
a day at the theatre on the
75th day of Urumi. Prithvi revealed during the press
meet that wife Supriya had once
finished a BBC documentary on
the troubled state of single-

Prithviraj to act with Rani Mukherji in Hindi film

After the entire hoopla
surrounding the youth icon’ s wedding has finally subsided, the
latest news, which is making
waves now, is that Prithviraj is
getting ready act in Bollywood. The star will be seen teaming up
with the renowned filmmaker,
Anurag Kashyap, who shot to
fame with films like Dev D and
Black Friday. After completing his latest
project Tejabhai and Family,
Prithvi will work on Anurag’ s film. Sources say that both of them
have been discussing the subject
of the movie for long and now
the project will finally kick off in
September and is scheduled to
release in 2012. The temporarily untitled movie
will be directed by Sachin
Khundalkar. The highlight of the
film is that Rani Mukerji will pair
up with Prithvi. Prithvi has recently announced
that he has agreed to sign the
film as he likes the script, which
is unlike any other typical
Bollywood love story. Let’ s hope, this young actor, makes Malayalis proud through

Piaa Bajpai as Prithviraj Heroin For 'MASTERS'

Piaa Bajpai is now ready to rock Mollywood. Yes, the actress will soon be seen in director Johnny Anthony's film Masters which deals with the lives of two best buddies. Prithviraj and director Sasikumar will play the lead characters while Piaa will appear as Prithviraj's love interest. The movie also marks the Malayalam debut of Sasikumar, who has given us the hit movies Subramaniyapuram, Pasanga and Naadodigal. Piaa made her Tamil debut in Vijay's film Poi Solla Porom in 2008. Actually it was Priyadarshan who recommended Piaa to Vijay. But she shot to fame in Venkat Prabhu's Goa as Roshini, a beautiful pub singer. Her cute smile and vibrant personality have been the highlights of most of her roles. But with the recent release Ko, in which she played Sara aka Saraswathi, she proved to be a dynamic performer as well.

Amala Paul says no to Prithviraj

Amala Paul recently got the opportunity to act with Prithviraj in a Malayalam film. The actress was very happy as Malayalam is her mother tongue, and Prithviraj is a huge star. Unfortunately, they wanted bulk dates from her in July. And Amala
Paul had already given those dates for Mupozhudum Un Karpanai with Atharva. The pretty actress had no choice but to refuse. She said that since her career in Tamil films is looking good, she intends to stay focused and make Tamil cinema her priority for the moment. All her forthcoming films are good projects that offer her plenty of scope to perform, so Amala Paul says she is very happy and content.

Ranjith Shankar for a musical

After achieving tremendous critical acclaim and mentionable box office success with his initial films like 'Passenger' and 'Arjunan Saakshy', computer techie turned filmmaker Ranjith Shankar is now planning a musical as his next venture. Titled as 'Mayflower' this movie will also feature young superstar Pritviraj in the lead. As his previous films, this musical will also have its share of social critique, though the movie will be much different in its narratives.

Multi starrers hold sway in Mollywood

011 has been
the year of the
multi-starrer in
Malayalam. The big
commercial hits of the year are Seniors,
Christian Brothers, China Town
and to a certain extent Urumi. This year solo hero films from
Mammootty like August 15,
Doubles and The Train along
with Prithviraj's Arjunan
Sakshi and Manikyakkallu have
not worked at the box-office. Remember last year Mohanlal
had a series of solo hero flops
like Kandahar before he
switched to multi-starrersr? No actor other than Dileep and
that too in crass comedies
(Marykuundu Oru Kunjadu &
Karayasthan), is able to make
a solo hero film a hit. On the other hand Mohanlal in
combination with other actors
like Suresh Gopi and Dileep has
made Christian Brothers the
years highest grosser (Rs 18
Crore). Jayaram alone cannot make a
solo hit. But in the company of
Prithviraj (Makeup Man),
Mohanlal and Dileep (China
Town) and Boban Kunchacko,
Manoj K Jayan and Biju Menon (Seniors), could churn out hits. Says leading theatre owner
Jose: "Multi-starrers are the in
thing today, as people just
want entertainment and more
number of stars the better.
Cost of a ticket in the single screens is between Rs 50-60,
while Ernakulam multiplexes
are charging Rs 150 for a
ticket. Collections of Seniors is
three to four times bigger
than a solo hero film." Today Mammootty and
Mohanlal have realised that it
is safer to do multi-starrer
than solo hero films.
Mammootty is doing The King
and Commissoner with Suresh Gopi, an untitled film with
Prithviraj
directed by Amal Neerad.
Mohanlal's Casanova is a multi-
starrer and Lal Jose's Cousins
he has Prithviraj for company. It looks like more multi-
starrer’ s are in the pipeline as it makes commercial sense.
Jayaram is toying with the
idea of doing Happy Husbands
2, while director Lal is planning
to make another sequel to his
Harihar Nagar.

Amala Paul signs a Malayalam film!

Amala Paul, the
heroine who
made waves in
Kollywood with
her Mynaa, is
now going back to her roots in Malayalam films. She is going to play heroine
opposite Prithviraj in the
Malayalam film titled Indian
Rupee directed by Renjith. Amala at the moment is flying
high in Kollywood and has
three very good projects on
hand. She plays Vikram's wife in
Deiva Thirumagal, Aadharva's
romantic pair in
Muppozhudhum Un Karpanai
and is Arya's love interest in
Vettai. Remember Amala had made her
debut in Malayalam through Lal
Jose directed critically
acclaimed Neelathamara, in
which she had done a small,
but significant role. She also did a cameo in Ithu
Nammude Katha. Why should the 19 year old girl
from Kochi go back to
Malayalam when her career in
Tamil cinema is going great? Well, the buzz is that it is a
Renjith film and she is playing
heroine to Pritviraj the
fastest rising star in
Mollywood.

Incidentally, this would be Sachin’ s first Hindi film as well. So, who will be Prithviraj’ s leading lady in this flick, is the question that looms large. Well, enquiries reveal that Rani Mukherjee is being considered to play his arm candy and if everything goes well then the project would get off very soon. Surya had tried his luck in Bollywood with ‘ Raktha Charithra’ and Vikram made it with ‘ Raavan’ . It looks like now its Prithvi’ s turn to test waters up north, let’ s wish him luck.

This might sound a bit unusual but then the film Veetilekkula Vazhi which has also got a National Award is unable to find a buyer in Kerala. However, it is now heard that things have been worked out and the film is expected to hit the screens in the month of June. This has been
directed by Dr Biju and it has the young superstar Prithviraj and Indrajith in the lead. The film has already been screened across various international film festivals and won accolades.

Manickyakallu: A friendly film for families

After a long time, a soft movie
with a tender plot has reached
theatres. And for once, the
youth icon Prithviraj has shed his
chic image and plays the very
simple role of a rustic village school teacher. Purged of slick cinematic
sophistications, Manickyakallu is a
perfect family flick that is also
an easy watch. M. Mohanan, who also directed
the successful Katha Parayumbol,
has done full justice to the
simple plot of this movie. The story revolves around a
village higher secondary school
at Vannamala, which is on the
verge of closure. Its fortunes
change with the arrival of a new
teacher, Vinayachandran ( Prithviraj) who is idealistic and
resourceful. The school is facing division fall
and also gets the dubious record
of not having single pass in the
Class 10 examination when
Vinayan walks in. With his
optimism and innovative teaching style, Vinayan succeeds in
turning the school around and
makes it students come out with
flying colours. However, the film fails when it
elevates the goodness of
Vinayan to unrealistic levels.
Samvrutha Sunil as Chandini, a
physical education teacher, has
done a commendable job. Another endearing aspect of the
movie is the way it captures the
rustic beauty of a typical village
in Kerala. The cast gels with the
characters so beautifully that
they appear as real life figures on screen. The music by M. Jayachandran
also adds to the ambience.
Despite all these pluses,
Manickyakallu has a predictable
plot and does not offer any new
element which would make it worth your while to watch the
movie. Lacking many twists and turns,
the movie doesn't have much to
offer a youth audience but is a
comfortable watch for families
who expect nothing more than a
smoothly flowing story. If the director had cut the 90
minutes, the theme could have
reached the audience crisp and
quick. But that is perhaps
wishing for too much.

'Indian Rupee' rolls with a song recording

Ranjith's new film 'Indian
Rupee' that stars Prithviraj
and Suresh Gopi in the lead
roles, started at Trivandrum,
with a song recording. There are two songs in the
film, that have been set to
tune by Shahbaaz Khan.
Mullanezhi and V R Santhosh
have written the lyrics.
Reema Kallingal is the heroine. Thilakan, Innocent and
Nedumudi Venu would support.
The film would be jointly
produced by Capitol Theatre
and August Cinema.
The actual shooting of the film would start at Kozhikode
in the first week of June.

Amal Neerad ropes in Mammootty and Prithviraj

announced that

Mammootty- Prithviraj film, which will be directed by Amal
Neerad who is close to both
the stars. Amal has worked with
Mammootty in Big B and with
Prithviraj in Anwar. Both the films were
appreciated for their making
and style. Shankar Ramakrishnan, a close
buddy of Prithviraj who wrote
the Urumi dialouges, will be
writing the script. In the untitled film which is
scheduled to start only in the
second half of next year, will
have Mammootty as hero and
Prithviraj playing the villain
role!

South India beckons Nikesha

Nikesha Patel’ s career did not start with a bang. The actor,
made her debut with the not-
so-happening Telugu film, Puli,
but despite the films’ debacle, she has now four projects in her
kitty, that too from all south
Indian languages.
She has signed her next Telugu
film, and a romantic entertainer
opposite Ravichandran in Kannada.
And that’ s not all , she is testing new waters with a film in
Malayalam, starring Arya and
Prithviraj, and a Tamil film, which
has Nakul and Shanthany
Bhagyaraj in the lead. So, how
was her experience working with all four industries down south?
“Well, that’ s a difficult question as I have done only Telugu film.
I’ m yet to act in other languages but I’ m enjoying my stint here,” says she.

Indian Rupee begins

The production work of Suresh Gopi-Prithviraj starrer Indian Rupee, directed by writer- director-producer Ranjith and jointly produced by Prithviraj's August Cinema and Ranjith’ s Capitol Theatre, has begun in the capital with song recording. The two songs in the film are set to tune by Shahbaaz Khan. Mullanezhi and V.R. Santhosh have written the lyrics. Reema Kallingal is the heroine. Regular shooting would start at Kozhikode in this week. Indian Rupee is said to be an all- out action film, starring Thilakan, Innocent and Nedumudi Venu in key roles. Cinematography is by S. Kumar and music by newcomer Shahbaz Aman.

Mammooty & Prithviraj Team Up Again

After their super hit combo in Pokkiri Raja (2010), Malayalam superstar Mammootty and young hero Prithviraj are back! They will join hands once again in a film to be directed by Amal Neerad, the maker of the stylish Big B and Anwar. This yet-to-be-titled film is jointly produced by Santhosh Sivan, Shaji Nateshan and Prithviraj under the banner of August Cinema. Urumi fame Shankar Ramakrishnan is writing the script. The director himself will crank the camera. More details are awaited. Though Pokkiri Raja bagged mixed reviews, it was announced the biggest hit of 2010 with a whopping turnover of Rs. 15 crores at the box office. Will the combo repeat this success at the box office? Let's wait and see.
