Urumi is an upcoming Malayalam historical epic film directed by
Santosh Sivan.
Written by Shankar Ramakrishnan, and produced by
director himself along with actor
Prithviraj and Shaji Natesan
under their new production
company called August Cinema,
the film has actors from all the woods of the Indian film industry
coming together. Vidya Balan, Prabhu Deva, Arya Genelia and Prithviraj are all part
of the cast while national film
award winning actress Tabu
doing a cameo role in the film.
Both the camera and the
mega phone are wielded by Santosh Sivan him self while the
fictional story revolves around
four young men who plot to
assassinate the Portuguese
explorer Vasco Da Gama.
The film is being made at a budget of more than 20 crore
rupees, making it the second
most expensive Malayalam film
ever made after Pazhassi Raja.
The film will be a cinemato graphic
treat and will also be excellent in terms of its making as Santosh
Sivan is known for his excellent
skills both in directing and filming.
It has already got lot of
expectations in the southern
states and parts of northern India.
