National awards: Seven films bag nominations

Sreenivasan's Athmakatha and Salim Kumar's Adaminte Makan Abu were nominated for the National Film Awards for 2010. Other much acclaimed Malayalam films like TD Dasan Standard VI B, Electra and Yugapurushan could not find place in the list of nominations. The national jury for film awards reportedly has no film personalities from Kerala among its members this time.

Two films to New york

'Veetilekkulla Vazhi' (The Way Home), directed by Dr.Biju and ‘ T.D.Dasan Std IV B,' directed by Mohan Raghavan, have been selected to the 11th New York Indian Film Festival. These are the only two films from South India that has found a place in the festival which will be from May 4 to 8. Biju Menon and Swetha Menon play the lead in Mohan's film while Prithviraj is the hero in 'Veettilekkulla Vazhy'. The festival will screen 25 feature films from India including ‘ A Decent Arrangement,' starring Shabana Azmi, ‘ Do Dooni Chaar'

Still no distributor for a Prithvi starer

it was a deafening revelation, especially when it is all about a Prithviraj starer, whose recent two movies made very big initial collections. It was B C Joshy, the producer of ‘ Veetilekkulla Vazhi’ , who revealed that his new movie with Prithviraj is still finding it difficult to fetch a distributor. Joshy was talking in the premier show of the movie at the year's IFFK. Joshy observed that the Chalachitra Academy should take the responsibility of distributing aesthetically valuable films. The movie which is a heart touching story about a young doctor's initiative to reunite a five year old child with his father, was well applauded by the audience in IFFK, who rate it as the best from Dr Biju, whose debut film Saira has been screened at Cannes. The movie which was shot at many locations in North India is really a visual treat. As the movie has fetched very good opinion from the masses, it is likely that the movie will be sold out soon to worthy distributors.
