Viewers are all clapping for the remix version of 'Oru Madhurakinavin' which feature Prithvi in different looks and Akhila in the dance steps. Directed by Dipu Karunakaran, the movie is expected to be a hit especially due to the big initials of the festival season.

'Thejabhai' opens in 90 plus centres

Young super star Prithviraj's Eid-Onam offering 'Thejabhai and family' opened in ninety plus centres across the state. Directed by Deepu Karunakaran, the movie features most of the comedy actors of Mollywood. Akhila is the heroine of this slapstick entertainer which is also scripted by the director. The movie is indeed very important for Prithvi as this is the first commercial movie coming to theatres after the marriage of the star. More over, this is the first movie in which he his attempting a full length comedy. 'Thejabhai..' carry good preview reports and is expected to end up as a hit with its interesting story lines and quality music.

recognition in society. In Indian Rupee he talks about
a young man who considers
money is everything in his
life. The entire talkie portion of
the film has been shot in and
around Kozhikode. Now Ranjith
has started the song shoot
for the film on Rimma Kallingal
in Gundalpet among sunflowers, marigold and
greenery. It has music by debutant
Shahabaz Aman.

Can Prithviraj's comedy work?

Prithviraj is an
actor who has
modelled himself
as a serious
actor who can
play the angry young man roles to the hilt. His recent hits like Urumi and
Anwar had him playing sedate
and serious characters, which
worked at the box-office. Now to be an all-rounder and
a superstar with reach in
Malayalam, one has to
“master the art of doing
crass comedy characters who
play to the gallery.” Mohanlal and Mammootty
have done similar characters
many times. Dileep is the king
of crass comedy which has
made him a very big star
with an opening. Prithviraj’s advisers have
been telling him to do mass
comedy films, to get that all
important family audiences.
Prithvi has not done a crass
comedy, though some say Shafi’s Chocolate and
Lollypop were in the comedy
genre. Prithviraj’s first full length
crass comedy film will be Dipu
Karunakaran’s Teja Bhai &
Family. However in the second
half his angry action hero
image has also been mixed to make it work at thebox-
office. It seems he has tried out
slapstick comedy with Suraj
Venjaranmoodu, which will
bring the house down. If Teja Bhai & Family becomes
a hit, this festival season it
will be a smoother ride to
super stardom for Prithviraj.

Prithvi's Teja bhai and family is the first Onam Release

Young star Prithviraj's 'Thejabahi and family' will be the first of the Onam releases. Featuring 'Kaaryasthan' fame Akhila and Suraj in key roles, the movie is a hilarious ride through the life of a gangster turned lover. Shot at Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia and Thiruvananthapuram, the movie is written and directed by Deepu karunakaaran, who had earlier made some interesting movies like 'Crazy Gopalan and Winter'. The movie produced and distributed by Anantha Vision is expected to be on theatres by the 30th of this month. With some interesting promotions and posters, the movie has already become the most awaited film of the season. And as it comes two weeks earlier than the Onam weekend, the movie is expected to rake in pretty good collections in the opening weeks.

Urumi is a hit in Telugu

After the successful Box Office run in Mollywood, 'Urumi' is still making its creators happy by emerging a hit in Telugu. The movie which was dubbed into Telugu opened in 36 centres few days ago with the same title and is registering good collections all over.With its star studded cast and story lines, the version of the movie will turn into profits with its opening collections itself. The movie has got the advantage of the recent trend in Telugu where even smaller movies have started collecting big like the Superstar flicks. It is also interesting to note that the last Malayalam movie that made a good Box Office run was Suresh Gopi's 'Commissioner' which came out more than a decade ago.

Teja Bhai and Family shifted to March 30th.

The release of the new Prithviraj movie 'Thejabhai and family' has been shifted to the 30th of this month. Earlier planned to be on theatres tomorrow, the movie�s release shift is largely due to the non-functioning of theatres in the Malabar area, due to Ramzan month. Expected to be on around ninety plus theatres on the Eid-Ul Fitr day, 'Thejabhai and family' will be first full length comedy film from Prithviraj. Directed by Deepu Karunakaran, who hit big time with the hit 'Crazy Gopalan, the movie is produced by Shantha Murali and P K Muraleedharan in the banner of Anantha vision. Akhila is the heroine while almost all of the comedy artists of Malayalam find good roles in this comic roller coaster.

get the advantage of a solo
release and a four day weekend. They say Prithviraj has a
better opening in Travancore
and Kochi areas, but trade is
clear that without Malabar he
cannot rule Kerala box-office. Meanwhile three other films
have confirmed August 31,
Ramzan day as release. They
are Mohanlal’s Pranayam,
Joshy’s Seven and re-
release of Kuttichathan in digital 3D. The other two
festival releases are
releasing during Onam,
Bobban Kunchacko’s Dr Love
on September 8 and
Jayaram's Ulagam Sutrum Valiban on September 9.

The Tamil version of cinematographer-director Santosh Sivan's magnum opus Urumi with Prithviraj, Genelia, Vidya Balan, Tabu and Prabhu Deva in the lead roles is likely to grace theatres on September 1, 2011! The English version has been titled Vasco Da Gama, while the Tamil version is Pathinaindham Nootrandu Uraivaal (PNU). Based on the attempted assassination of Portuguese explorer Vasco Da Gama, who arrived in Kappad near Calicut, on May 20, 1498, the film is produced by Santosh Sivan, Prithviraj and Shaji Natesan under the banner of August Cinema. Music is by Deepak Dev, a former keyboard player with A.R. Rahman.

Asif Ali as guest in Indian rupee

Those who have heard and read about Asif Ali's harsh replies to the Prithviraj's remarks about young stars, would have expected a real war of words when they met again. But the news is that Asif ali has already met Prithvi in the sets of 'Indian rupee', as he is there to play a pivotal guest role in the movie. He will appearing as real estate brokers in this movie together with Fahd fazil who is also in a guest role. The threesome is reported to have shared a couple of good days, while shooting for the movie. The movie directed by Renjith which has already completed the shoot of its talking portions is moving towards visualising the songs at Gundelpet. The songs will feature Prithviraj and Reemakallingal in the music of Shahbaaz Aman.

Deepan will do 'Hero' after Mammootty's 'NewsMaker'Deepan will do 'Hero' after Mammootty's 'NewsMaker'

M Mamootty dons the role of a channel reporter in director Deepan's flick 'Newsmaker'. Deepan was behind one of the biggest hits of last year 'Puthiya Mukham' in which Prithviraj played the lead role. Mammooty's close friend and personal assistant George is producing the film under the banner of Silsil Celluloid.

Deepan is currently busy with the project 'Hero' in which Prithviraj is donning the lead role. 'Newsmaker' would commence only after the post production work of 'Hero's is complete. Vinod Guruvayur has penned down the screenplay, which will have Ratheesh Vega's music. Murukan Kaattakada will write lyrics for the songs. The heroine and other casting is yet
to be finalised. According to various reports, 'Newsmaker' would be Mammootty's Onam release in 2012.

Amal opts for "Arrivaal, Chuttika Nakshatram"

First it was the triumphant 'Big B', and then 'Saagar Alias Jacky' and 'Anwar'....Director Amal Neerad, who has already built a young fans group for himself, with his differently styled movies, has been in the lookout for a different but effective name for his new movie. Now the director seems to have finalised his title of the fourth movie, featuring Megastar Mammootty and Prithviraj as 'Arrivaal, Chuttika Nakshtram'.('Hammer, Sickle and star', the election symbol of CPI (M), the biggest political party of the state) While hearing this title, many of the fellow students of Maharajahs college will remember the political leniency of the director Amal and writer Shankar Ramakrishnan in their college days. But don't expect the new movie to a political flick. Infact 'Arrivaal, Chuttika Nakshatram' will be a thriller with subtle political back grounding of the forties and fifties, when the country was passing through the independence days. Naturally the movie will have references about the party spirits and revolts that marked the season. Behind The Camera: Renjith - Prithviraj In 'Indian Rupee'

After a critically acclaimed commercial success with ‘Thirakatha’, director Renjith joins hands with young super star of Mollywood Prithviraj for ‘Indian Rupee’. After having directed mega star Mammotty in super hits like ‘Paleri Manikyam’, and ‘Pranchiyettan - the Saint’, Renjith has called back his ‘Nandanam’ star Prithviraj, to narrate the story of a misguided youth who falls into the trap of the real estate mafia, in his quest for making quick money. The director has also penned the script for this movie.

“Prithviraj plays the role of Jayaprakash aka JP, in ‘Indian Rupee’. The power games played in the real estate business, and the people involved who receives lakhs and
crores by way of commission. JP enters one such world in his quest for money. Very quickly he becomes a part of that world, from which he is unable to break himself loose. JP, who had entered the real estate business to clear a debt of Rs.30 lakhs, soon finds himself owing crores in various deals he has carried out. Real estate business is a dangerous game involving the power of brains, and not muscles. Through this movie I have tried to focus on the impact it creates on the society, and the changes it brings upon the family of a particular person,” said director Renjith.
Senior actor Thilakan, who had been absent from mainstream Malayalam movies for quite some time, makes a strong comeback with his character of ‘Achuthamenon’ in this movie. “The character of Achuthamenon in Indian Rupee demands a matured and elderly actor like me. This is my second film with Renjith after the Mammotty starrer ‘Prajapathi’. I believe that Indian Rupee will be noted in mainstream movies because of the cast and crew involved in making this film,” observed the veteran actor.

Rima Kalllingal as ‘Beena’ plays
the female lead. Jagathy Sreekumar, Tini Tom, Mamukoya, Baburaj, and Lalu Alex also play significant roles in the film. It also showcases the influence that money forms on the youth in a modern day society. With a very contemporarily relevant storyline, and an impressive star cast, both the Renjith and Prithviraj are hoping to repeat the success they achieved with ‘Nandanam’ and ‘Thirakatha’

Young superstar Prithviraj's romantic comedy Teja Bhai and Family, being directed by Deepu Karunakaran with Akhila as heroine, has been confirmed for release on August 26.
According to reports, the theatres in Malabar area, which form around 40 to 45% of the box office collections from Kerala, requested the makers to postpone the release date to August 31, because they feel that if the film is released on August 26, it will not take a good opening in Malabar due to Noyambu period, which only ends on Ramzan day which is likely to fall on August 30 or 31.

Shriya Saran replaces Trisha in ‘Hero’

The actor will get to star
opposite Prithviraj for the
second time

Last week, we had reported
that Trisha Krishnan was all set
to debut in Malayalam with
Prithviraj’s Hero, to be
directed by Deepan.
Unfortunately for both Prithviraj and Trisha, there has
been a change in plans. Shriya Saran will now be Hero’s
heroine. Deepan has confirmed
the news and has also revealed
that Trisha had to be replaced
due to call-sheet issues. This is
Shriya’s third Malayalam film after the Mammootty –
Prithviraj starrer Pokkiri Raja
and Mohanlal’s soon-to-be-
released Casanova. The film’s
script is being written by Vinod
Guruvayoor. Tamil actor Srikanth will play a negative
role in the film. Shooting will
begin in November. As for
Trisha, we guess Mollywood will
have to wait some more time
to catch her speaking Malayalam.

Actors to battle it out this Eid-Onam season

Mammootty and Prithviraj might
have teamed up inPokkirri Raja
last year, but they are pitted
against each other on August
26 when their respective films
will release to kick off the Eid- Onam season in Kerala theatres.
Prithviraj's Teja Bhai and Family
will open againstMammootty's
bilingual movie Shikari to set off
the festival season, whichwill
also see Mohanlal's Pranayam, Jayaram's Ullakam Chuttum
Valibhan andKunchacko Boban's
Doctor Love and Sevens.
Shikari, which will mark
Mammootty's Kannada debut,
will seehim in two roles - of a 1940 hunter and a present day
softwareengineer. PoonamBajwa
(China Town) will also play
double role in the movie.
Teja Bhai and Family is an action
comedy with Prithviraj playing an underworld don opposite
Akhila (Karyasthan) who plays a
social worker unaware of his
true identity.
Mohanlal along with Anupam
Kher and Jayaprada will havePranayam hitting the
theatres on August 31. The film,
directed and scriptedby Blessy,
is about the different facets of
love.
Going against the heavyweights during the festive season will be
Joshi's Sevens. Kunchacko Boban
and Asif Ali will star in the
movieas two among the seven
men who get entangled in crime
while trying to makesome quick money.
Jayaram will star as a
vegetable seller facing
adversitieswhen he reaches the
city in search of his brother in
the comedy UllakamChuttum Valibhan, releasing on
September 8. The film, scripted
by Krishna Poojappura (Happy
Husbands, Janapriyan), will also
star Mithra Kurian,
SurajVenjaramoodu and Salim Kumar.
Maxlab Cinemas and
Entertainment, which was
supposed tobring Mohanlal's
much-awaited Casanova to the
theatres on Onam, will instead release Kunchacko Boban's
Doctor Love on September 9.
The romantic comedy, starring
Bhavana and Ananya, will also
mark the debut of actor Divya
Unni'ssister Vidya.

It's Prithviraj-Shriya in 'Hero'

Shriya will be back in Mollywood for yet another innings, and this time the southern siren will be splitting screen time with Malayalam heartthrob Prithviraj. The film has been titled 'Hero and Deepan will be calling the shots for this picture. While some sections of the media had reported that Trisha will be roped in for this film which might have proved her launch pad to Mollywood, this has not materialized because of lack of dates available from the actress. But Trisha recently stated in an interview that she is open to do films in Malayalam as well as Hindi (apart from Tamil of course) if she gets good roles to perform. Now this project with Prithvi and Shriya in the lead will take off sometime in November. This will be the second film the audience will see this pair on the silver screen, the first being 'Pokkiri Raja' which had Mega Star Mammootty in it. 'Hero' will be Shriya�s third film in Malayalam. Young star Prithviraj is all set to remake his new film on theatres 'Veettilekkulla Vazhy' to Hindi.The actor who likes to go for a remake in a bigger canvas without budget restrictions, has already bought the rights of the movie. It is also expected to be the debut film of Prithviraj as a director, if initial reports and the already announced aspirations of the star are to believed. The movie has recently bagged the award for the best Malayalam film in the National Film Awards. Directed by Dr Biju, the movie tells the plight of a young doctor who is entrusted a child to find out his terrorist father and to unite both of them. Extensively shot all over India, the movie was also noted for its mesmerising cinematography by M J Radhakrishnan.
