The audio launch of “Urumi”, directed by veteran cinematographer Santhosh Sivan starring Prithviraj, Genelia, Arya, Vidya Balan, Tabu and Prabhu Deva, will take place in Kovalam, Trivandrum on the 21st of March. The music for the film is composed by Deepak Dev, who was erstwhile keyboard player for ace composer A.R. Rahman. Vidya Balan from Bollywood is expected to add charm and glitter to the star-studded evening. ‘Urumi’ will be screened on March 31, 2011 in 4 languages (Malayam, Tamil, Hindi and English) and is going to be a global release.
The script of the film is based on the attempted murder of Vasco Da Gama, the intrepid and indomitable explorer from Portuguese, who landed in Kappad near Calicut, on May 20, 1498. Under the banner of August Cinema, this period venture is produced by three partners, Santosh Sivan, Prithviraj and Shaji Natesan.
“Vasco Da Gama” is the title of the English version where as “Pathinaindham Nootrandin Uraivaal” will be the title of the Tamil version..
