Can Prithviraj's comedy work?

Prithviraj is an
actor who has
modelled himself
as a serious
actor who can
play the angry young man roles to the hilt. His recent hits like Urumi and
Anwar had him playing sedate
and serious characters, which
worked at the box-office. Now to be an all-rounder and
a superstar with reach in
Malayalam, one has to
“master the art of doing
crass comedy characters who
play to the gallery.” Mohanlal and Mammootty
have done similar characters
many times. Dileep is the king
of crass comedy which has
made him a very big star
with an opening. Prithviraj’s advisers have
been telling him to do mass
comedy films, to get that all
important family audiences.
Prithvi has not done a crass
comedy, though some say Shafi’s Chocolate and
Lollypop were in the comedy
genre. Prithviraj’s first full length
crass comedy film will be Dipu
Karunakaran’s Teja Bhai &
Family. However in the second
half his angry action hero
image has also been mixed to make it work at thebox-
office. It seems he has tried out
slapstick comedy with Suraj
Venjaranmoodu, which will
bring the house down. If Teja Bhai & Family becomes
a hit, this festival season it
will be a smoother ride to
super stardom for Prithviraj.

Teja Bhai and Family shifted to March 30th.

The release of the new Prithviraj movie 'Thejabhai and family' has been shifted to the 30th of this month. Earlier planned to be on theatres tomorrow, the movie�s release shift is largely due to the non-functioning of theatres in the Malabar area, due to Ramzan month. Expected to be on around ninety plus theatres on the Eid-Ul Fitr day, 'Thejabhai and family' will be first full length comedy film from Prithviraj. Directed by Deepu Karunakaran, who hit big time with the hit 'Crazy Gopalan, the movie is produced by Shantha Murali and P K Muraleedharan in the banner of Anantha vision. Akhila is the heroine while almost all of the comedy artists of Malayalam find good roles in this comic roller coaster.

release on August 26. But a section of the trade
feels that it is not a good
date, as the film will not take
an opening in Malabar area of
the state due to ‘Noyambu’
period. The ‘Noyambu’ ends on
Ramzan day which is likely to
fall on August 30 or 31. The trade especially theatres
in Malabar area which forms
40 to 45% of the box-office
collections from Kerala wants
the date to be shifted to
August 31. However producers Shantha
Murali and distributor Murali
Movies Madhavan Nair want
to release it on August 26, to
get the advantage of a solo
release and a four day weekend. They say Prithviraj has a
better opening in Travancore
and Kochi areas, but trade is
clear that without Malabar he
cannot rule Kerala box-office. Meanwhile three other films
have confirmed August 31,
Ramzan day as release. They
are Mohanlal’s Pranayam,
Joshy’s Seven and re-
release of Kuttichathan in digital 3D. The other two
festival releases are
releasing during Onam,
Bobban Kunchacko’s Dr Love
on September 8 and
Jayaram's Ulagam Sutrum Valiban on September 9.

release on August 26. This breezy romantic
entertainer is produced by
Prithviraj's favourite
producers PK Muralidharan and
his wife Shanta Murali who has
produced hits with the star like Classmates and
Chocolate.

'Oru Madhura kinavin' in Thejabhai

The evergreen dance song of Mollywood 'Oru Madhurakinavin' will be featured for the new movie 'Thejabhai and family'. The Prithviraj movie which will have him in the title character will have the remix version of the song which was originally used for the eighties hit 'Kanaamarayathu'. The song which featured the young star of the times, Rehman in a ever remembered and cherished disco steps had been an immortal hit for a long time. 'Oru Madhurakinavin' with original lyrics from Bichu Thirumala and music by Shyam will be remixed by the new age musician Deepak Dev, who is currently enjoying the big musical success of his latest 'Urumi'. The song will be shot on the young superstar Prithviraj and will be a highlight of the humorous action thriller.

Teja Bhai And Family commences

Young Malayalam superstar Prithviraj's comedy film Teja Bhai And Family, directed by Dipu Karunakaran, has commenced its shooting in Kuthira Malika, Thiruvananthapuram on March 23. Currently, the film is progressing in Thiruvananthapuram. After this schedule, the maker will shoot songs and some important sequences in Malaysia. Produced by Shantha Murali under the banner of Anatha Vision, Teja Bhai And Family is a humour based action film in which Prithviraj appears as underworld don Teja. Akhila Sasidharan is the heroine.

Prithviraj starts shooting for Tejabhai And Family

Malayalam actor Prithviraj does not seem to be worried about the promotion of his much- anticipated film Urumi. The young star is said to have moved on from the project and started shooting for his next movie Tejabhai And Family. Sources claim that Urumi has created lot of curiosity among the viewer before its release and Prithvi hopes that the word of mouth would do magic at the collection centres.
The shooting of Tejabhai And Family was was lunched in the Kuthiramalika premises on 23rd April. Currently, Prithviraj and director Deepu Karunakaran are said to be shooting for the film at Thiruvananthapuram. It is also reported that a few sequences of the movie will be shot in Malaysia.
However, Tejabhai And Family is a
humour-action film and Prithviraj will appear as underworld don Teja. Akhila Sasidharan will play the heroine. Deepa Karunakaran has penned the script for the film, which is being produced by Shantha Murali under the banner
of Anatha vision.

Prithvi's Underworld Don

Prithviraj seems to be youngest actor in Mollywood to have handled the roles of underworld dons with elaan. Take his short career in films and you will see a plenty of similar roles, starting form his initial films like 'Stop Violence', to the recent 'Thanthonni'. The film that he is already on 'Tejabhai and family' will also have him in the title role, which is also a don based on Malaysia. The movie by Deepu Karunakaran, the hit director of 'Crazy Gopalan' is a pretty humorous tale about the bad don who changes faces to suit the typical family values, after he had fallen for a social worker 'Vedika'. Akhila Sasidharan of 'Karyasthan' fame will come up in the role of Vedika in the movie, which is already in the sets in the capital city. The movie is expected to reach the theatres by the month of July.

'Tejabhai' Starts At The Capital City

The shoot for the new Prithviraj movie 'TejaBhai and family' has kicked off at Thiruvananthapuram. The movie which has started its shoot in the Kuthiramalika premises on the 23rd of this month is directed by Deepu Karunakaran. Produced by Shantha Murali in the banner of Anatha vision, this humorous action flick will have Prithviraj as a don based on Malaysia, who has to change his ways following his love life with a malayalee girl.The movie will have twenty days of shooting in the capital city. superstar Prithviraj is all excited about his new project 'Tejabhai and Family' to be
directed by Deepu Karunkaran.
"Tejabhai is going to be my first full length comedy role," says Prithvi. "There would be elements of comedy in the
manners and movements of
Tejabhai. At the same time, it would be in a very stylish way that the story would be
presented." Prithvi says that the film
would have all the elements of a good entertainer.
Deepu had earlier directed two films; 'Crazy Gopalan'
starring Dileep and 'Winter' starring Jayaram.
